Liyana’s practice is focused primarily on banking and finance litigation and asset recovery. She has acted as both Lead Counsel as well as being part of the firm’s legal team on a number of matters for major financial institutions. She was part of the team that represented one of these institutions at the Federal Court on an issue of defeasibility of a Charge security over a property due to its Malay Reserve Land Status.
Liyana regularly engages with and provides advisory to major financial institutions on matters related to banking and finance litigation extending to those on Islamic banking as she is familiar with syariah laws. As part of a wider area of her practice, she has also acted as lead counsel in a suit involving law on defamation.
Liyana was called to the Malaysian Bar on 2018 and was made partner in 2023.
